I'm confident that Americans will turn their noses up at suggestions from foreign nationals like yourself who recommend that America nationalize their oil companies.

That's way out of step with American sensibilities.

Oil firms, just like other well run business, have no incentive to build surplus refineries, or extract oil or alternate energy in uneconomic ways just because that currently tickles the fancy of doctrinaire dreamers or myopic government planners.

If someone wants to provide a fat subsidy to pervert rational economic planning, there will usually be some firms influenced by this, but many won't get involved. It's a tough business getting invested in an uneconomic project for the sake of subsidies which are unlikely to last. It's a good way to end up looking like a dope and taking a financial bath.

America is not going to be following the example of a third rate socialist emporium like Brazil and nationalize oil companies just because some corrupt government official, or a crank letter writer doesn't like their investment policies.
