A great documentary - America: Freedom to Fascism, by Aaron Russo. This is a link to the whole documentary. video.google.com Personally, I am not all THAT pessimistic, but some totalitarian tendencies certainly emerged with this administration since 2001, and this is something to watch for. This is certainly NOT on the scale of REAL totalitarian regimes yet. Comparatively minor stuff so far, but the process MUST BE STOPPED NOW. That's how totalitarian regimes gain power. One by one your freedoms are eliminated. I lived in a totalitarian society. My grandfather was executed by Stalin in 1938, and my father was labeled the "son of the enemy of people". This is NOT fun. Americans are very naive, take their freedom for granted, while they lose these freedoms one at a time.... Another part is economic; the control of the printing press is often accompanied by a totalitarian regime. Hyperinflation is especially dangerous, as history has shown a dictator often is "elected" and then grabs power once money is destroyed. Orwellian stuff and propaganda are also signatures of a totalitarian regime. We have that :( Germany - Hitler Italy - Mussolini Yugoslavia - Milocevic Zimbabwe - Mugabe
