Wouldn't nominating Hillary cause a lot of grief for Obama- almost a slap to the conservatives? And also, it would sure look like some kind of payoff. Just not a good way to start.

She is divisive. No question. And I don't see any scenario in which it would be done openly before the election. But I can imagine it happening after. As I said, I think there are better appointees, approached from that side.

But she could be confirmed. Just depends on how much everyone wants it to happen.
