Re: Apple switched 100% of their processors from power-pc to Intel in a very short time. Why didn't AMD get that business ? Apple didn't switch 100% of their processors over. Just the ones in their PCs (iPhone and iPod still use ARM processors, for example). So you could say that Apple's x86 business is 100% Intel. Similarly, Sun and Cray's x86 business was 100% AMD for a long time, until Intel came out with a server processor that was a lot more competitive. That's what happens in this business. If AMD can come out with a low cost x86 processor that is lower power and ideal for an iMac or MacBook, why wouldn't Apple use it? That's hypothetical, of course, because none of AMD's processors today are less costly or more power efficient than Intel's.
