Hmm, I had no way to read that as sarcasm. One of the problems with the absence of nonverbal language.
I like the freedom of the cities and am definitely not a camper, hunter, fisher. A vacation for me is to head for NYC, roam around the theatre district, hit Carnegie Hall for a great concert, and eat some sort of exotic meal, wander around Central Park, marvel at the diversity.
Freedom here means freedom of choice, great reams of choice, and the freedom for folk to be lots of different types.
But back to a previous point. At one point in the past ten or twenty years, the metropolitan NYC area was inundated with statistics concerning the return of federal revenue to the states. As I recall it, New York and New Jersey received back from the federal government some very small proportions relative to rural states. If I get a moment, I'll see if there is a recent version of that data. |
