Gotcha. I agree that rural areas get a higher dollop of federal dollars per person than cities.

I understand now what you meant about the freedom of choice in cities.

Aren't we blessed in this country to have wonderful wild areas and wonderful cities available for those who prefer them.

New York City is twice blessed because it has the Adirondacks so near. I love that area. At one time I even considered moving there. I've seen almost all of it, owing to my job at the time.

It's possible the parts of NYC I found objectionable were cleaned up by Rudy Giuliani. I didn't like the subways, dirt, crowds of people, and the traffic. I saw a car marooned on the Cross Bronx Expressway once. On the return trip, most of it was gone -- dismantled for the parts.

NYC might be fun if one had a lot of money to take advantage of the attractions.
