My hubby's parents are 93 and 91...........the mom has Alzheimer's and the Dad has congestive heart failure but they are still at home. Unless a miracle happens he will precede her in death and it should be relatively soon. I really need to be here to help my husband but it would have been fun to go visit my son in Italy. Last June I was in Venice for a few days and it wasn't too stinky. The canal water is certainly dirty and I wouldn't go for a swim in any of them but I don't remember any smell................but to be honest, I am an aquatic person so maybe it didn't bother me. I found the city beautiful in many ways different than Florence..............but I love all of Italy! Here are some pictures I took there: pbase.com
