HORIZON: LNG Supply Additions Shrink In 2008, May Swell In 2009
World Gas Intelligence (Wednesday, May 21, 2008)
It's now clear: Only about half of the nearly 20 million tons per year in new liquefaction capacity that at the start of this year looked set to begin operation in 2008 will actually do so, due to delays at Tangguh LNG, operational problems in Norway and feedgas shortages in Nigeria. The result is likely to be continued tight LNG markets at least through next winter. Less in the forefront of market analysis is a spin-off result: 2009 could well see over 40 million tons/yr in new capacity.

*********************************************************

Before this development the ratio of new gasification capacity to liquifaction capacity was projected to be something like 3:1. Now that ratio will be even higher, maybe 6:1?

So even with the high (from a historical perspective) natty prices here in the US, it would seem unlikely that the US will be getting much LNG for the next year or so.
