*AV*--Boy, if that ain't the $64,000 question. IBM has dabbled in the microprocessor business withmost of the major players over the years. It would not surprise me to see them finally put a shot across INTC's bow. They are one of the few companies with the bankroll to do it. Another thing is that IBM and the old Bell Labs rarely discuss these types of advances unless they are close to introduction into production. They are usually very close lipped at the major conferences and share very little useful data. I have given much Stock Swap mindshare on this copper chip technology since I haven't formulated the timeframe of its introduction. Personally, this technology has great potential in all I/O (input-output functions) and for the memory area also.

The use of copper to speed up devices has been a major dream and desire for as long as the industry has been around. The idea of introducing a "mobile metallic contaminant" so early onto the manufacturing process gives many people nightmares. One mistake and you contaminate millions of dollars worth of wafers, equipment and process chambers. The whole story is relatively scary. I am aggressively looking for as much info that is available to digest.

Bottom line: If it truly works and is as great as it is being portrayed, watch out INTC and watch out world. IBM will probably garner a great deal of license/royalty dollars if it is properly protected (and you know it will be). If IBM drops down to $40 again[GGG] I would be a buyer.

For now, I am sitting on both WFR and UTEK. My buddies on another thread have informed me that I am going to become a young, retire gazillion quintillioniare real soon on UTEK instead of an unemployed engineer. Whoa, Whatta Country!!!!

Andrew

PS-Sergio- I am putting together a response for you.

BTW-A Cleveland/Marlin World Series is just so underwhelming. The only real excitement is the pressure on the Tribe. Imagine losing to the Marlins??? The ultimate World Series Jinx.
