I had expected a rickety little econobox but came away impressed with the engineering.

EDIT: Just checked with Consumer Reports. They have not tested this new model, but had a dim view of the original's power and handling.

They did crash test it and it got excellent or better ratings.

That's a 1-liter, 3-cylinder engine, BTW.
