---> Thread poser <--- My daughter in law raised a good question today.

She said that she's been reading a lot of the threads both here and on Stockhouse (apparently, TheSlowLane moderates an alternate energy thread over there), but told me today she doesn't find the threads that useful.

I replied it was probably a reflection of the markets. Things have been churning for quite a while and will probably continue for a while longer, so no information is that great.

Other people think that's true? Have these threads lost their cache? After I talked to her, I thought back to my early days here and how we were always trying to give heads up and advice on all kinds of things. I was a newbie trader back then, and the trading advice I got from experienced hands was a big help. Man, the threads were hopping.

I remember buying a boatload (my whole RRSP in fact) of T.MCF (not the current company), and a week later it had tripled. It was going up 50 cents a minute (literally). I sold it and immediately got seller's remorse until a cool hand pointed out that triples in a week don't come along very often.

Certainly not these days.
