Lawrence, I remember your cited post very well. I think at the time I made comment on how well I thought you presented your case. Certainly in hind sight your post looks even better, but I believe you got lucky with the unforeseen events of the DEC suit against Intel and the FTC investigation, which both helped undercut Intel's stock price to its current level.
With regard to your main issues of deteriorating revenues in Japan, and no killer application to move customers to faster Pentium IIs.
---If I remember correctly, when Intel announced its last round of price cuts Japanese distributors chose not to pass along these price cuts to customers. Perhaps now these distributors will reconsider their unwillingness to pass along the price cuts.
---Your second point of no "killer application", is of greater concern for me. While I am hopeful that MMX, MPEG-2, AGP, Wired for Management, Clustered PC Servers, DVD, and Intel's Video camera will all be driving forces, I acknowledge that any of these alone are not killer aps. In my opinion Intel would be better off looking into "personal and property security applications "for the killer ap., rather than the entertainment segment.
As for seeing Intel's Q3 earnings report, you might go to Intel's home page for that report.
Thanks again for your well presented posts. Regards, Jules |
