What a hyperbolic punk you are. I could almost believe you if it weren't for the fact that Bush wouldn't let the weapon inspectors do their job.


To be clear, my post "It was a mistake" was referring to the administration's decision to characterize the war with Iraq to be significantly about WMD. They believed that was the most important aspect of the case, and it turned out not to be (although, any rational person would have concluded that it was).

In no way does that decision diminish the importance of having gone to war with Iraq. Strategically, it continues to be a very important aspect of the war on terror. The mistake was in characterizing the war as necessary for WMD; the reasons were far more substantial than that, but Bush refused to detail them, apparently, because they didn't think it was necessary. (Had WMD been found, which very well might have happened had they not been given time to ship them to Syria), then everyone would agree it wasn't necessary to cover other aspects.
