Good Morning, John,
If we're smart, we don't kick rocks because we know they're hard. If we don't like the volatility of speculative issues, such as FONX, there are mutual funds to smooth the path for those who don't like roller coasters or bumps.
George Chelekis was/is, from my understanding of news releases relating to his trading practices, a crook.
Having said that, and I have seen nothing that contradicts news and remarks such as yours made about his criminal behavior, his essays are important sources of thought for all of us in the NASDAQ market.
Those essays do make thought provoking reading in this NASDAQ market.
If you wish to shelter others from what others (such as Chelekis) have had to say about market practices, make the effort. What Chelekis says so clearly, others have said with much less candor and clarity. This is my point, and the point that FONX MMs (IMHO) are doing exactly what Chelekis says in "Variations on Running a Shaker." And John, so what? Like it? Great. Since you don't, so what?
On your point that some posters on SI are paid to make their postings, I have had occasional direct experience with seeing that. But I've been on SI awhile and the experience is infrequent.
I think that your implied perspective on the importance of SI to the larger world of the markets might be a bit exaggerated.
This is my perspective: SI is an interesting and fun area to learn more, make friends, vent, get support, etc. but is not quite as crucial as your tone might make us believe. I have made some wonderful internet friends because of SI. Thank you for being here for us SI. But as to it's importance to the markets? An occasional paid poster is just another voice in the wind so far as I am concerned and is not money well spent for those who are spending it.
INHO I'm just little fish, in a very large pool (the marketplace), with very large predators surrounding me...SI is a good place for me to hide, and talk things over with a few people who are not a part of my direct social and support circle. I hope that you share this perspective.
Since you seem to be a bit stereotypical on your dd about Chelekis, perhaps you should click on my bio and history of posts on SI and make up your own mind as to my motives on SI...I'll stand on the record of my posts on SI anyday.
Best wishes, and good luck,
