I don't think lefties are always ogres any more than I think alcoholics boil babies to flavour their gin.

I do however, not want them getting their hands on my money or anyone else's.

The cause more pain by depleting the treasuries of their country, inducing poverty and social distress than any dictator who controls the press, and bans opposition parties.

Lefties institutionalize theft by lofty paeans where they sing the praises of the working man. Really, Hitler's disenfranchisement of the Jews in the early stages of the Reich was just leftist re-distribution of wealth with the same sanctimonious pronouncements about the public weal and ill gotten gain as any leftist organization before or since. The target differed but the song was the same.

The Leftist Manifesto goes along this line:

1. Certain elements within society have far too much wealth. They are the x-ist blood suckers.

2. The poor want change and are being exploited by the x-ist blood suckers.

3. certain groups who are disenfranchised and poor are being discriminated against.

4. taxation levels are not high enough. The government needs all sorts of cash to institute sweeping changes.

5. foreign influences are undermining the country and x-ists blood suckers are hand in glove with them in a treasonous way.

6. state security must be increased because of alarming indications of overthrow by domestic armed groups and foreign agents.

7. rebels can be negotiated with. they have legitimate demands. certain armed people who protest are just misunderstood people.

8. education should be free, medical should be free and certain other services that people might die without it seems should also be free.

9. industries that form the core of the economy should be state owned. The state can set standards of environmental protection that private enterprise will never follow.

10. It is evident that the largest social group should set the standard for language and cultural observations.

11. free public elections may interfere with the need for a lengthy period of transition to a fairer national ethic, so must be dispensed with until the social revolution may be implemented. It is not necessary to let the government be undermined by reactionary forces that may lead the people away from change for the good.

12. If the result is our ideal society, then the pain of transition and all that is necessary to effect change is for the good.

It is always the same. It always suppresses individual initiative in favour of government edict. Invention will still flourish as the natural tendency of man is to speak softly to money and power and where reward of power, position and security is offered, to give too much for too little. Socialist societies did develop. But the lacked the edge. In the end the money-reward societies develop better. Invent more. On the average their societies live better. The illusion is a different sort of master and more freedom. There is really only a sliver of difference. There is just as much rip-off in capitalistic societies by the greed of private enterprise. The company is as dictatorial as any socialist government and as unfair to employee innovation as a communist state. And it is far harder to chase reward by ones one effort in a free society than it is to nuzzle up to mother state and wait for hand outs.

The people who fall by the wayside by their own efforts in achieving wealth and security in the free markets will always trumpet being on the socialist feedbag, because this is where the failure to produce is elevated to a moral good. It is a dangerous course for man.
