Colin Powell is the only African-American I can think of with the gravitas to enhance a ticket with Obama. And that ain't gonna happen.

Otherwise when you think about senators, governors, retired generals, etc. I can't think of anyone offhand. Obama needs to add confidence with his VP pick, not introduce uncertainty.
