Chris, > I don't see how. In that period, Kim built his bombs.

Point taken, but here in America, the only reason why we give a damn about North Korea is WMD.

Koreans don't care as much, except in terms of international relations. North Korea in particular just wants to sell the technology. South Korea is concerned more about reunification and how much that will cost them than about WMD. Or course, if Japan starts arming themselves in response to North Korea, no one in Asia will like it.

The biggest problem I have with Bush's diplomacy is that it's way too simple-minded, so the time spent not talking to North Korea probably hurt more than it helped. On the other hand, there's been a lot of diplomatic work being done behind the scenes. People in Asia are getting the hint, that America is only concerned about America and rightly so.

Anyway, it's obvious I never liked the agreement Carter and Clinton had. Giving North Korea any nuclear technology is just wrong on so many levels. Bush could have done a lot better, but hey, Bush will be gone soon so why beat a dead horse?
