5/23/08 update Soaring oil prices finally took their toll and the Nasdaq Composite Index and the Nasdaq Biotech Index both had lousy weeks. At Friday's close, the NCI was down -7.83% YTD (vs. down -4.65% YTD a week ago), while the NBI was down -5.02% YTD (vs. down -3.67% YTD a week ago). The Contest portfolio median also fell, closing the week down -11.43% YTD (vs. down -8.92% YTD a week ago). At week's end, just 6 of the 33 Contest portfolios were in the black YTD with 10 of the portfolios beating the NBI. Gene's portfolio still leads the pack by a huge margin, closing the week up 92.5% YTD. ROBERT's portfolio remains in second place with a 23.6% YTD gain. I've been busy with my post-birthday party thank yous, etc. and haven't yet reallocated the MLNM proceeds to the other stocks in RCMAC's & TILEY's portfolios. It'd, of course, be fine with me if RCMAC & TILEY did their reallocations themselves, using 5/16 closing prices, and posted the numbers. Meanwhile, I'll use the $25 takeout price until they or I get to do it. Enjoy the long weekend folks! Below is the Top Ten list on 5/23/08:
