Funny you mention patriotism. That's a word to be very afraid of. It comes out when the arguments to be made are so asinine that no sane person would believe them. The concept of patriotism is used to try and get people to stop thinking, or at least not voice rational arguments. Patriotism and "National Security". After all, who would want to be unpatriotic, or question the need for National Security? Your use doesn't count, but the word will start getting used soon.
