My interpretation is the only interpretation that you could put on it. In 1968, they were rioting in the streets. The democratic party was deeply divided. Senator Kennedy was way, way behind Hubert Humphrey in delegates committed. The elections were less that 5 months away.

There was nobody out there suggesting that Robert F. Kennedy should hand the nomination to Hubert Humphrey.

Any other interpretation of what Hillary said would be a real long stretch.
