Since we are parsing, you left out the obvious case that plenty of moderates can and do support Obama, some very passionately, making the notion of a "moderate Obamaphile" very real.

Moderate Obamaphiles, which I am confident are many, do not make Obama moderate. I don't think. Those moderates are signing on to a liberal. Do you think they do so thinking he will change his stripes? More likely, seems to me, that they like him well enough that they will either shift in his direction or tolerate his liberal tendencies.
