Bulldog on prubear lost over $1 million of other people money
right after the surprise cut in 98, then his job and his wife,
as the bullish part of his ARBITRAGE order did not get filled
fast enough because of the buying panic (only the bearish part
got filled), so consider yourself "lucky".
These markets are free for
some, but not for others <ng>. There were quite a few of
these surprises during this decline as well, one August 16,
2007, one January 23 - and one, of course, one in March.
Derivative sellers are protected by the Fed, but losses for
buyers are considered "normal", a Moral Hazard that leads to
exponential growth of put selling.
