So one is spineless, the other is certifiably crazy, and Ephraim Halevi? What is your take on the former head of Mossad?
You are twisting my words again. I didn't say Ben-Ami was spineless, I said he was a wrong-headed dove. I didn't say von Crevald was crazy, I said he must be included quite a few decisions that most people would regard as reckless war crimes as being rational.
As for Halevi, whose positions in general I am less familiar with, let me ask you in turn: what if Israel assumes Iran is rational and tries to open a dialog, but it turns out they are wrong? You think Ahmedinijad is going to enter into talks with the stinking corpse?
Suppose they waste time trying, but are wrong. So now their efforts have failed, and now Iran has the bomb. And lo and behold, Ahmedinijad turns out to have backing from his patron Yazdi and the rest of the Council of Guardians and they decide to go for it for the sake of Allah. Where does this leave Israel? Where does it leave the whole Mideast?
That is quite the bet to take, don't you think? That is really called "You Bet Your Life." Why should a regime that demonstrably doesn't value PERSIAN lives, let alone non-Persian lives, shrink at a war? Especially if it will help the Mahdi return?
Do you believe Ahmedinijad is a believing Mahdist? Do you believe Ayatollah Yahzdi is a believing Mahdist? Answer that. |
