Socialist dictator likes Obama-his propsective counterpart in the US: Castro praises Obama, with mild criticism politico.com, May 26 2008 Fidel Castro has a fascinating op-ed in the state-run Cuban paper Granma in reference to Obama's Cuba speech with a slight note of criticism. He made it clear that Obama is his preferred candidate: He's "doubtless, from the social and human points of view, the most progressive candidate to the U.S. presidency." And Castro is sophisticated enough about our politics to have pitched his piece deliberately to avoid any impression that he's giving Obama a disastrous embrace.
