>>> An industry charged up: Electric vehicles are poised to go mainstream

This, ultimately, is the solution.

The cartel is cutting off its own nose by keeping the prices high, as this is what is going to propagate the rapid deployment of electric vehicles. Which is what Bush told them a couple weeks ago, to no avail.

Electric vehicles cost next to nothing to run. They are charged in off-peak hours when there should be plenty of capacity.

To me, the prospect of all-electric vehicles, with some hybrids that can generate their own electricity for emergency purposes, is exciting in that it can very quickly eliminate the stranglehold the Arabs have over us.

It does little about the terrorist threat. But it will allow us to focus more on our own country than to concern ourselves with the possibility of a suicide pilot taking out Saudi oil facilities, for example.
