Obviously some who espouse radical Islam might want to be an existential threat to the US, but it's clear they do not have the means to be that.

Bob has the perfect opportunity to explain how Radical Islam could end us, but apparently his tack is going to be that it is so self-evident as to be beneath him to say.

Certain labels for this sort of conduct spring to mind, none of which would help maintain thread decorum.
