To me, the prospect of all-electric vehicles, with some hybrids that can generate their own electricity for emergency purposes, is exciting in that it can very quickly eliminate the stranglehold the Arabs have over us.

I don't believe the problem will be over. After all, electricity is generated by plants that burn oil or natural gas. And so, I think its one step to a complete solution. If we want to really break the stranglehold, we need leaders who push this country to conserve. If a 5% reduction in gas consumption can be accomplished through voluntary conservation like in March, then a 10% or more reduction sparked by fiat is possible.
