Some background about the Netbot folks. The creators (Erik Selberg and Oren Etzioni) originally developed MetaCrawler back in 1995 as one of the first, (if not the first) engines to simulaneously query multiple search engines at once. Seems logical that they are using some of the same ideas to query muliple retailers at once. As of February '97 Metacrawler has been operated by go2net, so I assume that their agreement gave Selberg and Etzioni the opportunity to develop the commercial interests of Netbot and Jango.

Excite's technology deptartment now has the brains and collective history of the original Webcrawler and MetaCrawler developers (both of the University of Washington) as well as their own in-house developers. I like that a lot. They have great potential to follow through and actually create the products they announce.

I tried Jango when it first came out, but I have not used it for a long time. They say a newer version will be out in a few weeks.

See metacrawler.com

Have a good one!
