Anyone can get anything into this country with little effort. The only reason that they have not done something dramatic is because they dont have the ability. But over the next 5-10-20 years? The 9 11 attacks were a much more difficult challenge then delivering a nuke to Times Square.

So why haven't they attacked? There were lots of loose nukes after the Soviet break-up. Why haven't they followed up since 9/11 since it's so easy?

And now we are debating the next AQ tape and how they will kill us all while you say they are destroyed too. That doesn't add up.

What does being in Iraq have to do with stopping a nuke in Times Square? Just a sense of strength or deterrence?

These debates never get down to actual threat assessments and possible responses, just this could happen or gee that could happen so I guess we have to stay in Iraq until their Shiite factions learn to get along.

There is little logical connection at all.

And btw, if we get nuked, it will be full-scale war with a real draft and real wartime spending as the US expands its role in the Middle East. I have zero doubt about that. But one last time, rolling patrols down the streets of Baghdad has nothing to do with nuclear issues.
