I am saying a handful of fanatics can cause enough devastation that we should go to extreme efforts to prevent it. I think we are now at the core of the debate. Can we stop terrorists attacks 100%? I think we could, but it would resemble a military occupation by our own armed forces, with checkpoints and national IDs required. Probably routine frisking and random detentions too. Do we want to live like that? The notion that we are fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here doesn't stand up to logical scrutiny. I just can't believe they couldn't spare 20 fanatics from fighting us in Iraq so that they could attack us here with WMD.
