David, after watching McClellan on NBC this morning, I am now totally convinced that it's about the fame and fortune.
When asked, "Why now?" he utters the same "bipartisanship" crap that I've heard over and over again by the most partisan of politicians. Specifically, he claims that he wants Americans to move forward beyond the partisan battles, but that's a load of B.S. because he should know his book is just tossing more fuel to the fire.
Also when asked, "Is it just about the money?" he claims that he's not like that and his publisher isn't like that. Longnshort's post explains this in better detail than I could ( Message 24630142 ), but the bottom line is, of course, money. I'm not surprised that Meridith on NBC didn't pursue the publisher connection, given that NBC probably paid good money for exclusive interviews and doesn't want to jeopardize the potential ratings.
Anyway, I'm not doubting the veracity of his story, just his motivations. Liberals will probably ask, "So what?" to which I'll reply, "If the price of betrayal is 30 silver pieces, watch your back ..."
