everyone that is over 40 and has not had a colonoscopy........have a colonoscopy

40 is a good time to start if you've a history of colon problems in your family....most doctors recoment @50-55 to start. I'm 55 and I had one done a few months ago...I'm glad I got that over with (for now). They removed 5 polyps, fortunately for me they were benign.

Wether they admit it or not many will wait to have a colonoscopy until they have to simply out of fear. I admit putting it off myself for that very reason. In the end (if you'll excuse the pun) it wasn't anywhere near what I'd thought it would be. Fasting was the worst part, as far as the operation goes.... I wasn't aware of anything. As a matter of fact, I totally blanked out everything that happened after the nurse injected something into my drip.... Next thing I remember, I'm walking up the steps to my apartment wondering how I got there. I asked my wife, who put my clothes on, she said I did! She also said I was talking and doing things normally..... I remember nothing about it....very strange.
