Perhaps GE is positioning themselves to buy out Emcore.

Could be. Too many coincidences lately, the biggest of which is the massive short attack, right when the numbers are starting to improve. If a major like GE was eyeballing EMKR, then it makes a lot of sense that the acquiring company would want to see the stock stay as cheap as possible during the bid.
