No Allen, I didn't try downloading from Iomega. Don't get me wrong the zip is a great little unit, but as far as I am concerened the ez135 was just that much better. The ZIp's cartridge ejection is better than the ez135, but the ezFlyer 230 has fixed all that and the overall unit is much btter than the zip.

What I was trying to point out was that Syquest makes really good quality products. They are packaged really well, very easy to install and everyone that I have shown my units to have been really impressed... enough to go and buy one. Obviously the ZIP had the same effect when it came out and it has been marketed much better than the Syquests.

I think the excitement here is the prospect of a new machine at a great price, both for the unit itself and just or more so important a dramatic lower media cost.

I don't own any SYQT yet. I'm waiting for a good dip, before I will buy just on a rumor. I went and read about the Rocket technology. The big advantage I think it will have is, first it is a wide SCSI device. Those Wide SCSI Adapter cards are expensive, but those that work with digital video, 3D Modeling and Animation and Musicians, probably have a wide scsi device already in the form of a hard disk. This unit will be a dream backup device and so the unit will have an established hungry source of customers already. Then it should broaden out quickly if they market it right. But this is all rumor as far as I can see for now.

Also I went to terastore, but you really don't see much hoopla about new products there, it is a site filled about the technolgy it uses. I don't know when and at what price point there products will appear. Defintely worth watching however.

And as someone else pointed out earlier, I'm sure Iomega isn't just sitting on their hands. They could also announce some new product, and they have the money now to even go acquire new technology if they don't have it themselves.

That's why I'm still watching SYQT and not owning any. And if I get in it will be for a short time at first, hopefully around 4-5,000 shares. Then I will sell all but a 1,000 shares after a move up 2 or 3 points. Then I will just sit on a 1,000 shares and see what happenes.
