This guy was pastor at another church, and it doesn't sound like Obama heard him preach, or at least not like this. Seems to me this political race has made pastors just as nuts as some posters- and they are saying intemperate things. I don't see how this Catholic guy reflects much on Obama. Even the priest seemed to realize he'd gone too far and HE issued an apology- saying what he said didn't go along with what Obama stood for, at the same time Obama was disavowing his statements - which tells me the man doesn't ordinarily speak that politically. Whether he's in to black liberation is his own business. I don't really care about that.

We all have folks who agree with some of our positions who embarrass us. When you're for immigration reform you might also have some Nazi cheer leading beside you- doesn't make you a Nazi. When you're against special status for Israel, that same Nazi might show up at your special interest group- still doesn't make you a Nazi. You can damn people for association, but imo you better be sure "association" is more than just a few interests in common.
