If by childish things you mean "angry" black people or those that speak for angry black people, then I think the tightrope walk is much more delicate and precarious than you make it out to be. Many blacks in this country are still angry, and from where I sit, with good reason. Dismissing them is not leadership. Channeling that anger into something positive is. Kennedy and MLK were geniuses at this, and to some extent so was Reagan. At least in IMHO.
