A few years back the argument frequently made by energy professionals was that as the price of crude goes up, it will spark more exploration which will result in more oil getting brought on line.

Fool. If ANWR had been shut out we'd be producing from there by now.

Punk, it still wouldn't have made a difference. Besides, we would not be able to use the oil.

t takes time to bring production up. For example, we have just leased some property for drilling, and were advised it could be 18 months before a determination is made whether to proceed or not. This crap doesn't happen overnight.

As to economics, you don't know crap about it and it is evident. CJ knows about what you do (you may remember, he chided me about my "knowledge" of economics in the same post he claimed it would take $100 Billion to do an express rail line between Houston and Dallas). He knows his shit ;)

I've read your posts.......you know far less than you think you do. You overestimate your brilliance because you are a big fish in a very small pond.....an unimpressive pond at that. CJ made a mistake on the cost of an express rail line.....a type of transportation where the cost estimates are extremely variable because this country doesn't have a lot of experience in their construction. You, on the other hand, believed that we import the nat. gas we use.......a far more serious blunder.

And btw, given the cost of land acquisition, a $100 billion cost estimate may not be that far off.
