Dems are still seen as weak on terror and weak on FP. Whats killing the dems is that iraq seems to be going a hell of a lot better than before. Sure iraq will be within irans sphere but it will be federal and sunni areas and kurds will always have a great deal of independence if not ultimate sovereignty. Assuming this peaceful trend continues thru the election, Obama will have to move toward mccain and not the other way around. Obama lacks creds to do this but hillary has always been squarely in the middle on this issue. She could beat McCain even with iraq getting better because she could triangulate. Obama at best is 50/50 and although the economy can trump iraq in the end or iraq could blow up again in mccains face, the more likely scenario is another 200. 2004 election.
