When I read what Pfleger has done in his parish, I think I'd like to see a Pfleger on every corner.
Mme as you point out, there is a lot that is not well in our inner cities, but you can do still good things without saying crazy shit. It's not the passion that's a problem, it's the underlying basis, in all respects, which is not beneficial. I think a Geoffrey Canada on every corner would be a better plan.
I agree that many whiter people are uncomfortable with what folks like Wright or Pfleger have to say, that it’s uncomfortable stuff. I am one of them, but I am uncomfortable with mocking and divisive speech in general. I’ve learned to live with it. I am most certainly not unaware of the BS many black folks go through, just on a day to day basis and am quite familiar with the type of rhetoric in question. Yes, there is a lot of real anger, but it’s just more hyperbole to say that those calling for distance are suggesting that Obama destroy Pfleger. He doesn’t have to destroy anyone, just dissociate. No-one is chucking the black community under the bus. That’s a straw man of your’s imo.
There is a fine line between the truth and perpetuating harmful stereotypes. People on both sides like the truth except when it's too painful. This is known as the suffering of change.

There, you said it yourself, that’s dissociation, a separation of church and state on a very personal level, if you will. Don't see the evidence for disagreement. Those steadfastly against Obama will reinforce the association no matter what. Can we have a Pres with a trinity in is background. Those for him will contend that it’s the foreground that’s under contention, in the present moment. It might hinge on those undecided. No-one in their right mind can blame Obama for Pfleger's outburst, but his political reality, he needs to step aside imho. Cross the crucible. How much of the black vote will he lose if he leaves his church. Wonder what “the Jews” would think of that. If you meet the you know who on the path, slay him. This is change with a Capitol C. Can he walk the talk and be the benevolent role model he wants us to be.
Otherwise, I fear McCain / Hilary will get votes from whites who think he is racist. <ng>
