It seems like it would be foolish to marry some one after knowing that person for only a year or so. Mary, first of all, we're not "marrying" anyone. Second, you're presuming that you "know" any of these politicians. I don't presume that. We only know a persona. We don't know the "person." We don't "know" Hillary. Or, for that matter, McCain. We all have our own perceptions and guesses. But we only have glimpses, not knowledge. Third, Abraham Lincoln had exactly two years in elected office--in the House of Representatives back in the 1840s--when he was elected President in 1860. Eisenhauer had no experience in elected office. On the other hand, fourth, Dick Cheney had so much experience and was "known" by so many people that we can't even count the number of people who knew him or the number of offices he held. And some of the offices he held were a lot more powerful and closer to the President than those Hillary held, bedrooms excluded. Ditto for Rumsfeld. And any number of other people could be listed here as well, but I'll stop there. Whoopee for "experience."
