John W, You seemed to have discounted the possibilty of PI failure rates approaching 100%. The data I posted is another piece of data on failure rates, which are obscrured because of an insensitive assay. The current assay misses a significant viral level which is mutating and selecting for resistant strains. I had indicated that researchers were overly optimistic (especially when PIs were initially approved). I think that in time, it will be obvious to all, including the nominating committee for Time, "Man of the Year".
