I suspect Iraq will be a lot less of an issue by November. And it may even help McCain. The Iraqi army shows signs of competence. And Iraq now has a huge stash of money from oil profits. It's plenty to bribe most insurgents into accommodation, at least until November.

It's the economy stupid, once again. If the tax refunds resuscitate the economy for a few months, McCain may have a chance.
