Presently, US automarket is reaching saturation. Multicar ownership is important to have obsolescence and replacement type of economy. GM like Ford and Chrysler had no solutions other than cutting cost.

The real problem is that QA has been better for many years. Cars do not rot away, and some 24 year old cars are still on the roads. Small used car dealers(fed by auctions of trade ins) had be popping up all over, stealing business from the three giants.

All this look impossible along with higher gasoline prices.

The problem is management at the big three car manufacturers. All present car developments, and marketing strategy did not work. It will take the old used car export strategy to make market saturation go away.

Until then, certainly new car exports will also help.
