Honestly, I always thought of CBM as somewhat penny ante, but looks like I was mistaken. Admiral Bay was the only CBM stock I ever looked into, and I figured that was typical. So it was a shock to read that there are 5 competing LNG projects in northeastern Australia, all to be supplied by CBM. Seems like multi-billion dollar deals are being signed there every week lately.

Why is CBM so much bigger in Australia than in North America - or anywhere else for that matter? I've seen some mention of tax incentives? Or maybe these Queensland coal deposits are extra gassy or something? Or maybe the boom is just getting started here? Could be that there are just too many competing gas plays (shales, etc) in North America.

Meanwhile, I am trying to figure out if these prices for gas reserves can be extrapolated to New Guinea.
