Bob, you have overlooked the many times Obama has explained how long it takes to withdraw one brigade, and why it will take well over a year to draw down most of the troops there.

So I believe what he says.

I strongly suspect that events on the ground will prevent the withdrawal from being a one brigade per six weeks deal, whatever the numbers are. And we won't draw down to zero just because there will be facilities, equipment, a huge embassy and anti-AQ ops to support in Iraq.

Inevitably there will be a US presence there for a long time. But if we bring home 100,000 troops, we are basically out of the business of trying to make Iraqi neighborhoods safe for Iraqis and from other Iraqis.

Let them sort it out.

Have you stopped to ask yourself how much keeping a huge presence in Iraq will cost, since you are always rattling the rafters with your complaints about out of control spending? An extra $100 billion or so per annum doesn't bug you since we are on that proverbial 2-yard line?
