This one is a Covello special ... supposedly he 's covering memory makers ... for sure not the sharpest tool in the barn imho,
he had no problem to predict the worst downturn though.
Besides he's got a lot of data...
I don't believe he's capable to connect the dots - like what are the implications of moving to copper

Rexchip Electronics is likely to be the first Taiwan DRAM maker to swing to profits in the second quarter as the company has already turned a profit from April, according to Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC).

Rexchip currently is seeing monthly sales of over NT$2 billion (US$66 million) with stronger growth expected as the company is having all of of its DRAM produced in 1Gb density on a 70nm process node. It will start introducing production on 65nm in the second half of 2008 and PSC will start introducing production on 50nm in 2009, PSC updated.

PSC indicated that yields from the mainstream 70nm node has surpassed 85%, implying that production costs are shrinking. Once the price of 1Gb DDR2 appreciates to US$2.50 again, PSC will see production on 70nm become profitable. The spot price of 1Gb DDR2-667 opened at US$2.13 on June 1, according to figures posted by DRAMeXchange.
