I just had a PM from somebody suggesting I ease off on curtailing people here going after one another, whether it's called an attack or whatever.

Sorry, Dale, but I can't let that characterization stand.

What I said was that there's a difference between attack on one hand and criticism perceived as insult on the other.

It's impossible and even counterproductive to avoid criticism given the nature of our topics. Criticism of something or someone is inferable if not implied or explicit in most of what we post. It's not likely that there are any Hummer owners here, but if there are, there's a good chance that they feel disrespected by today's posts.

I do not suffer food fights either. Food fights are deficient on grounds of lousy argumentation. Challenge them from that perspective, and the bad behavior will correct itself in the process. Challenge them on bad behavior and you get a temporary reprieve on the behavior but you still have lousy argumentation.
