I have no doubt that Obama will be the next president... McCain has no chance.

That said, he's going to need to keep talking straight from the heart going forward and not be afraid to put blame for the economic crisis we're headed into squarly on previous administrations (incl. Clinton and other "Greenspanesque" types). To do that he may have to study up (read SI... LOL), Volker would be a big help I have no doubt. Things could be so bad we may need a new FDR in the sense that you can't just let people sit around unemployed. There won't be time to worry about the dollar and I have no doubt it'll go much lower... if it doesn't then it is probably the correct thing to keep printing 'em while we ride this thing out.

If you watch him speak he's a rare bird in the sense that he is able to come from 'context' of discussions and not get all emotionally caught up in the content of the discussion. Richardson of NM seems similar. That's why he doesn't get ruffled.... he sees all the words coming at him and stays with the context of them grasping the larger picture rather then focusing on each literal point and therefore staying on track to the greater issues and not getting caught up in the small stuff. A corralary is watching someone like Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity (Colms as well) (vs a more calm and collected news reporter) grasp at every minute issue, formulating hypothetical gottchas completely losing sight of the larger context (of course they're so emotionally attached to their viewpoint they can't help themselves). Most of the other candidates (Clinton too) just can't stop focusing on each minute point... nor can the media for that matter... even CNN just can't help but put emotion and importance on the smallest stuff.

I have no doubt that Obama will be a very special president albeit probably a galling one for the media. He may also get crucified like so many other clear thinkers before him.

As Christ learned... if your going to tell the truth, you must quickly leave town.
