I have just been informed that the Secretary of Defense demoted Special Forces Lieutenant General Phil Kensinger to Major General effective February 2006 as a result of his role in the Pat Tillman incident.

From my perspective this is a travesty of justice. A decision by the leadership not based on facts but political expediency.

It is appalling that Phil took the hit, as his role was as Commanding General of a non-deployable CONUS based unit at the time.
Meanwhile, a favorite son of the conventional army who was the 3-star tactical commander on the ground got a free pass.

I predict this becomes a larger problem for our nation's defense.
