Carter was not a bumbler, that was Gerald Ford. And GW Bush. Carter is actually one of the most admirable human beings of our lifetime. And he inherited most of the economic and military problems he ran into. Carter was also not responsible for the rescue choppers which went down in a sandstorm in Iran. His daring plan was very risky, and weather or rightwing saboteurs stopped the most heroic rescue in world history. Delta Force's best were on it. Plus Reagan's people railroaded him in Iran trading arms for hostages. Richard Armitage was in charge of that. The October Surprise.
